Yes, her challenges were greater than I could even imagine, but still… I hoped – almost ashamed at myself for suggesting it, fearing I might be wrong – there must be a hint of sunshine somewhere. (Right?)
If the gap between your dreams and reality is a bit large for comfort, then take an honest look at how you are approaching your goals, intentions and resolutions. See if you’re making any of these fatal mistakes.
In May of 2009, hundreds of entrepreneurs gathered at the Fremont Studios for SHINE, an event sponsored by Biznik. With a team of 12 cameramen and 36 interviewers (including me), we interviewed 250 entrepreneurs about their businesses. What do they do and why do they do it? What inspires them to work long hours with little support and no guarantee of success? Excerpts of the resulting interviews and other footage are being edited into a documentary called SHINE (a big film about small business). Karrie Kohlhaas interviewed me. Hear why I’m NOT a financial planner, how I spent much of my life prejudiced against people with money, what forgiveness has to do with wealth and what’s so great about being an entrepreneur: To see trailers of the film, click here. Stay tuned for a link to SHINE: the song! (I wrote a song inspired by the project, it will be on my MySpace page soon. www.myspace.com/katephillipsmusic
I’ve heard it said we are Spiritual Beings having a Physical Experience. Perhaps we are also (at times) Abundant Beings having an Experience of Scarcity! Tips on how to wake up from “The Trance of Scarcity.”
I live by Lake Marcel, poised between the Snoqualmie Valley and the Cascade foothills, between the towns of Carnation and Duvall (east of Seattle). It is peaceful, idyllic. It looks like the kind of place you’d go to visit your financially-secure retired relatives in their second home… nestled between tall fir trees, near the community beach. Part of my daily routine is to walk around the lake, weather allowing. I walk to stretch my legs, clear my mind, and… to listen. Sometimes, I hear Spirit speaking in Nature – perhaps through a bird or a tree, and often, through a living metaphor.
